The Transition Event Hub – Free Online Event

Following the success of the first online transition event last November, The Transition Event Hub are thrilled to be bringing this virtual event back in May. They understand that whilst the covid-19 pandemic continues to bring uncertainty, the support needed by young disabled people and their families is more important than ever.

With access to services, information and events like this being limited, the Transition Event Hub brings experts to talk about the different transition topics, aims to help answer your questions, and arm you with the most up-to-date information so you can best support your disabled young person and safeguard their future.

This year, the Transition Event will run throughout May, with webinars happening each week. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore dedicated zones full of useful articles and videos. Register for free today.

Dynamite Update from Carly Blake

dynamite-portsmouth

The neurodiversity profiling tool is being used in schools to help teachers to understand a child’s needs better.

We’ve been working on the profiling tool by creating easy-read versions of the profiles for young people.

We are now creating video podcasts based on these profiles to raise awareness and understanding for young people and their carers.

They will help young people to join in with conversations about their support needs.

We want to focus on the positives of neurodiversity, and let people know that it is never a bad thing to think differently to other people.

If young people (aged 14-25) would like to join in with helping us make these profiles they can email dynamiteportsmouth@gmail.com or phone/text 07905682886

Update from Carly Blake – Young Persons Neurodiversity Lead

Natalie’s Blog Part 9

Wow its already April! The months have flown past and we are now getting to enjoy the lovely sunshine and company we all have missed.

PPV have been going through many changes over the past few months. We are currently in the process of moving offices and we will hopefully be settled in within first few weeks of May.

PPV have been busy with the increase of co production work within the city and have welcomed new professionals and parent reps to our monthly Shaping Better Futures Together (SBFT) co production group.

We have been working with CAMHS, PCC ,The NHS, Solent Therapies and many more services to help create and improve the services available to our families in the city.

If you are interested in joining this group please contact ppvadmin@p-d-f.org.uk.

PPV parent reps have been working hard attending meetings, events and working groups to insure families voices from across the city are heard. One of our lovely parent reps have been busy creating well-being packs for the our next PPV support group.

PPV will be restarting up face to face events, coffee mornings, drop ins and support groups in guidance with government guidelines as soon as we are settled in our new office space.

PPV are currently working hard on our Contact grant monitoring return all ready for the new application and exciting plans for the coming year.

Enjoy the sunshine and stay safe.

Challenges and Solutions to Running CAMHS During Covid-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented services with unique dilemmas. These are unprecedented times for which there is no clear rulebook, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) have been affected during the pandemic. They are likely to be under strain to meet increased demand.

Please read the document below which outlines some of the challenges, and solutions, running CAMHS during Covid-19.

Digital Resource for Carers

The Portsmouth City Council (PCC) are members of Employers for Carers (an employer’s forum supported by carers UK).

A benefit of the membership is a digital resource for carers produced for PCC in partnership with Carers UK.  This is something if you’re caring for someone with a long term condition, illness or disability.

Portsmouth City Council (PCC) in Partnership with Carers UK have a new digital resource for carers.

Carers can access the resources via PCC website or directly from their internet browser by using login details on this card:

Carers are encouraged to make use of the resources which include easy access links to local information.
