PPV is a Parent Carer Forum. What is a Parent Carer Forum?

A Parent Carer Forum (PCF) is a group of parents and carers with children/young people aged 0-25 with SEN/disabilities from a local area. The aim is to make sure that services in their area meet the needs of children and their families.

This is achieved by gathering the views of local families and by working in partnership with local authorities, education settings, health providers and other providers to highlight where local services, processes and commissioners are working well, or challenge when changes or improvements need to be made.

Portsmouth Parent Voice represents the views of parents in Portsmouth, however, does not advocate for individual families. PPV is not a support service. PPV has a steering group of parents who lead this and listen to the views of other parents in the local area to make sure they know what is important to them. PPV is keen to make contact with as many parent carers as possible across the city.

In the United Kingdom, there are now forums in almost all local areas, for more information on Parent Carer Forums, please check out the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF) website. NNPCF is the independent national voice of parent carer forums.
