Natalie’s Blog Part 7

Welcome back everyone.

It has been a busy term and with us back in lockdown Portsmouth Parent voice are just as busy working to makes sure families voices are heard.

PPV have been busy attending meetings across the SEND Strategy and have now joined new meetings in regards to SEND, SEND school places, SEND home learning, BLM, CAMHS contract monitoring and many more.

PPV have been working on the ND Profile tool for a year now in co-production and we are now at the research ethics stage and facilitating training for all professionals who will take part. The interest has been incredible and recognised nationally as other Local Authorities share an interest in the model Portsmouth are planning to use to support children and young people in the city.

PPVs Shaping Better Futures group met for their annual Dragons Den. Professionals brought many projects along to be shaped and developed by the group. They came up with some new ideas of working and now have their year plan.

PPVs SBFT group are also looking for parent carers with children under 6 years old with SEN/Disabilities to join their group, if you would like to get involved in this it would be great to hear from you.

PPV have been busy feeding back to the NNPCF on all issues arising from lockdown and the return to school and have been supporting families where this has not been an easy process.

PPV are planning on running a monthly support group which would be face to face, these will be alongside our virtual coffee mornings. So please keep a look out for updates on this as it would be bookings only due to COVID regulations.

Our Steering Group got together and discussed many items and came up with lots of training and themes for events, its been really exciting to be able to start planning events again. PPV will also be welcoming 8 new Parent reps who will be joining our steering group in December and January.

PPV understand that lockdown part 2 is going to impact families in Portsmouth a great deal over the coming weeks and are here to listen to your feedback on services in the city so please let us know if something is or isn’t going well so we can work with the service to make improvements.
